Electric Avenue exudes the energy and a little of the brashness that the 80’s were all about. The music and video screen over the bar launches you into a never-ending game of “Omigod, I remember that … who is it ?!” And on top of that, it’s the first bar in Wellington to have Becks on tap. You can get something to eat – there’s a great Tapas menu and you can have steak three ways or chicken or fish. But this is a bar first and foremost – with plush couches set in booths around the perimeter and plenty of room for standing, foot-tapping and as the night gets going, a little bit of dancing.
There’s a great cocktail list and upstairs is another bar area giving out onto a balcony overlooking the ongoing party that is Courtenay Place at night. Electric Avenue is open every night from 4pm till late and there’s a DJ running more of the great 80’s music that you never realised you liked so much.
